3 days in Florence
A realistic day-by-day plan with start times, how long to allow, and travel estimates between stops.
This 3-day plan covers Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Florence Food, Accademia and more. It starts around 9am, keeps two main things per day with a proper lunch, and leaves the evening for food or a show. Travel times are estimates from the distance between stops.
Day 1
Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio & more
- 09:00
Uffizi Gallery
3 h
Entry is timed. Spend your first hour in the Botticelli and Leonardo rooms while you are fresh, and don't try to see every room – most visitors tire after about three hours.
- 12:30
Lunch
Walk a couple of streets away from the main sight – prices drop and quality rises.
- 14:00
↓ Next door
Ponte Vecchio & Oltrarno Walk
2 h 30 min
Go in the late afternoon. The Oltrarno is quieter than the centre.
- 19:00
↓ About 12 min on foot
Florence Food & Market Tour
3 h
Florentine specialities include bistecca alla fiorentina, lampredotto (a tripe sandwich) and ribollita. Go hungry: most tours add up to a full lunch.
Day 2
Accademia & Duomo
- 09:00
Accademia & Michelangelo's David
3 h
Closed on Mondays. Walk-up ticket queues are long even in shoulder season, and the only way to avoid them is a reservation.
- 12:30
Lunch
Walk a couple of streets away from the main sight – prices drop and quality rises.
- 14:00
↓ About 6 min on foot
Duomo & Brunelleschi's Dome
2 h
The dome climb is 463 steps with no lift, narrow in places, and not suitable for people who dislike enclosed spaces or heights. Slots are timed and fill up.
- 19:30
Dinner
Book ahead if you want a specific restaurant, especially on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Day 3
Day trip: Tuscany Wine
- 08:30
Tuscany Wine & Countryside Tour
Full day
You will taste several wines, so go with a driver rather than renting a car. Spring and early autumn have the best light and the harvest in September–October is the most atmospheric.
- 19:00
Evening back in Florence
Dinner near your hotel. After a full day out, keep the evening easy.

3-day Florence questions
Is 3 days enough for Florence?
Two days for Florence itself, one or two more for Tuscany. This plan fits the main sights into 3 days at a comfortable pace, with a lunch break each day.
Can I change the order of the days?
Yes. Group days by neighbourhood if your hotel is far from a sight, and swap any day if opening hours (many museums close one day a week) or the weather requires it.
What should I book before I go?
Book Uffizi Gallery, Accademia, Duomo first – they use timed entry or sell out.
