During the tour we elevate 120 meters including climbing some stairs up and down. Then we take a hidden path leading at the rocky, steepest side of Gellért hill with cliffs over and under you, to almost literally walk over the river on a safe trail and arrive to a lookout point facing a new direction! The Cave Church, for me the most interesting religious site of Budapest that was blocked by a 2 meter wall during communism. The sanctuary is also the centre of the the only Christian order founded in and by Hungarians. Come and see! The Cave Church can not be visited on Sundays, we do the rest though.

If you are looking for the absolute highlight of Budapest and want to experience a bit of urban nature as well and a spiritual side of the city, this is the tour for you. We start by visiting one of the most unique churches in town: the cave church, hewn into Gellert Hill. While part of it is man made indeed, the general atmosphere takes you back to the early days of Christianity, when the church was hiding from public. We continue on foot up to the Statue of Liberty and the Citadel, while pausing at one or the other lookout spot to enjoy breathtaking views of the city. The summit is the absolute highlight of Budapest and if you are already tired, we can take a coffee break.
